Good news for KKR, Shreyas Iyer joins NCA for rehab after refusing surgery, eyes WTC Final spot, likely to play in IPL

KKR has received  an injury boost with their captain Shreyas Iyer looking to be available for some IPL matches. Iyer has reported to the National Cricket Academy on Wednesday with the aim to make a comeback for the World Test Championship Final. It should be noted that Iyer has refused surgery for his persistent back injury as it would have sidelined him for at least 6 months. With WTC Final starting on 7th June, 2023, he wants to be available for the selection.  After being ruled out from the 4th Test in Ahmedabad and the ODI series against Australia, Iyer met with specialists in Mumbai. While he was advised surgery, the Mumbaikar has decided to defer it owing to IPL 2023 and WTC Final. However, it will take a while for Shreyas Iyer to even play a game for KKR. Sisanda Magala joins Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Kyle Jamieson

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed South Africa pacer Sisanda Magala as a replacement for New Zealand bowler Kyle Jamieson for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Jamieson, who was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, was bought by the franchise for INR 1 Crore. His replacement, Magala, has rich experience in the shortest format of the game. Though he has played just 4 T20Is for South Africa, Magala has a reputation of being a regular wicket-taker in domestic T20 games over the years. He will join CSK at his base price of INR 50 Lakh.

Matthew Short Joins Punjab Kings and Sandeep Sharma Signed By Rajasthan Royals as replacement of Prasidh Krishna

Punjab Kings have signed uncapped Australian all-rounder Matthew Short as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow. The England wicket-keeper batter is ruled out of TATA IPL 2023 as he is yet to fully recover from an injury he sustained in September. This will be Short’s maiden IPL season. The opening batter was adjudged the Player of the Tournament in the recent edition of the Big Bash League for scoring 458 runs and taking 11 wickets with his off-spin. Short has been signed for his base price of INR 20 lakh. Fast bowler Sandeep Sharma will represent Rajasthan Royals this season after being signed as a replacement for Prasidh Krishna. Picked for his base price of INR 50 lakh, Sandeep is one of the most senior bowlers in the tournament with over 100 wickets and 10 seasons of experience under his belt.

Delhi Capitals Trade Shardul Thakur For Aman Khan With Kolkata Knight Riders

Shardul Thakur has been traded from Delhi Capitals to Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023. The all-rounder was bought by the franchise for INR 10.75 crore in the 2022 TATA IPL Auction. He played 14 matches and picked 15 wickets, including his career-best figures of 4/36 and scored 120 runs in the last edition.   Emerging all-rounder Aman Khan has been traded to Delhi Capitals from Kolkata Knight Riders. Aman, who made his IPL debut last season for KKR was acquired for INR 20 Lakh in the 2022 TATA IPL Auction.

Lockie Ferguson And Rahmanullah Gurbaz Traded From Gujarat Titans To Kolkata Knight Riders

New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been traded from Gujarat Titans to Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023. He played 13 matches for Gujarat Titans and picked 12 wickets that included a 4-wicket haul.  Kolkata Knight Riders have also traded Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans. He was included in the Gujarat Titans squad in the 2022 TATA IPL edition as a replacement for England batter Jason Roy but did not play any game last season.

Jason Behrendorff Traded From Royal Challengers Bangalore To Mumbai Indians

Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff has been traded from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Mumbai Indians for the forthcoming TATA IPL Season 2023. He was acquired by RCB in the 2022 TATA IPL Auction for his base price of INR 75 lakh. Behrendorff has previously represented the Chennai Super Kings in 2021, Mumbai Indians in 2018 and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2022. The left-arm quick has played 9 T20Is picking 7 wickets with a best bowling performance of 4/21. In the 2023 edition of the Tata IPL, he will be representing Mumbai Indians – his 2018 franchise when he played 5 matches and picked as many wickets.
